In September 2019, a stray dog named Chico joined us unexpectedly on the Classic Inca Trail in Peru—and never left. What started as a trek through the stunning landscapes of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu turned into a heartwarming stray dog rescue mission. Traversing Peru’s Sacred Valley and hiking the Classic Inca Trail in September 2019, I not only faced the physical challenges of the journey but also embarked on a path of deep emotional reflection.
